SAN DIEGO, Sept. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitek Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq:MITK) www.miteksystems.com, a leading mobile imaging software solutions provider, today announced that it has filed suit against Israeli-based Top Image Systems (Nasdaq:TISA) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware for infringement of the following five patents of Mitek: U.S. Patent Nos. 7,778,457; 7,949,176; 7,953,268; 7,978,900; and 8,000,514. The Mitek patents being patents all generally relate to mobile image capture and processing using a smartphone or tablet. Mitek is seeking damages against Top Image Systems and injunctive relief to prevent Top Image Systems from selling its mobile imaging products, such as MobiCHECK.

Mitek invented the industry's gold standard technology that powers Mobile Deposit on smartphones and tablets. The Company has been issued 12 U.S. patents, with another 12 patents pending, which cover the processes for depositing a check, processing the image, and creating a Check21-compliant image, whether the processes are carried out using a smartphone, tablet, server or any combination of such devices.
